Skeleton Man

                The book that I am blogging about today may be a little older, but students still love it!  I have had several students come back and recommend this book.  Joseph Bruchac is a wonderful Native American author.  His books are from different genres, so if scary stories are not your thing, then check out one of his other stories.

                Not long after Molly's parents mysteriously disappear one night, her "great-uncle" shows up to claim her.  All he has are photographs of her family that convince the adults around her (but not Molly) that he is a relative. In fact, she thinks the photos look suspiciously like those that belonged to her father, who grew up on a Mohawk reservation. Molly is surprised that each night, her bony guardian locks her into her room, only allowing her to attend school during the day. Molly relies on the deciphering of her dreams, her "warrior-girl" courage and the support of her quirky but compassionate teacher to solve the mystery and rescue her parents.  Her “uncle” keeps getting creepier by the minute and Molly must find a way to escape!
