Chomp

    Today’s post is about a book that a student has suggested the title of the book is Chomp by Carl Hiaasen.  This author has also written a couple of other young adult books such as Scat, Hoot, and Flush.   The student who recommended this book is 6th grader Elysssa.

    The book is about a young boy named Wahoo Cray who lives with his father while his mother is overseas teaching Mandarin to American Businessmen.   His father is an animal wrangler, so he's grown up with all manner of gators, snakes, parrots, rats, monkeys, snappers, and more in his backyard.  Wahoo is surprised when his father takes a job with a reality television show named “Expedition Survival”.  To make matters worse, his father does not get along with the star of the show Derek Badger (who knows next to nothing about nature or animals).  The idea for the show is that the producers will use the Cray’s tame creatures for the show, but Derek has other ideas for the show.  He wants to film the show in the middle of the Florida Everglades. Crazy things start to happen as soon as everyone arrives in the everglades.
